Incredibly bright and beautiful.

These lights make my Biocube 16 into everything I was hoping the stock lights would do. Steves upgrade is absolutely beautiful, and make my corals look so much better than even my fish store's LEDs do! It did take me about 25 minutes to install and I took my time, and ended up being not nearly as complicated as I thought it would be. Step by step videos made installing a breeze and saved me from making mistakes as well. I currently have them running at about 30% and they are brighter than the stock LEDs! The fans they use are more audible than the stock fans, but not annoying by any stretch. My RBTA and gonipora are loving these lights! If you are on the fence about upgrading - do it you won't regret it.

Amazing!

I didn’t really know what to do about my crappy stock biocube lighting, as I didn’t want to take the lid off. Then I found Steve’s LED’s. The lights themselves are insanely bright! Installation was fun and took me about 45 minutes going very meticulously. The instruction guide these guys have was spot on. The step by step gifs made it very easy to follow. They really have a good operation going on. I would recommend them to anyone in the hobby.

Biocube 16 review

I bought this in the beginning of the year with my christmas money. I found some reviews online saying that this system made some fan noise, which bothered some people. I called to see if they knew about the issue, and they said they were well aware of it, and have solved it six ways from sunday by using quieter fans, and including foam sound insulation as well. They said it had to move quite a bit of air to keep the LEDs lasting a long time, and were only recently able to find a fan that moves enough air and still fit in the hood. Good enough for me. I gave myself about an hour to install it, and when I was finished, I was pretty surprised how simple it was, high-five! I can't even tell that this is any louder than the stock system but damn it's so much brighter! Already my ricordia is opened up and I swear it's a different color, it is so amazingly orange! I gave it 4 stars for the old school looking website.

Easy Installation

My Biocube 16 upgrade was packaged well. I had it installed and programmed is less than an hour. There is no need for anyone to have any anxiety about installing this system, it’s super easy. Lights look great and I can’t wait to see how the corals respond. The sound of the fan may be alarming to those who are used to the stock Biocube lighting, but it’s no different than the sounds my all in one RedSeaMax130. Very happy with the upgrade and would highly recommend. Only thing I would change in the process is on my part. I would have preread the Hurricane manual before installation, this would have cut 10-15 minutes off my installation time.

This is the absolute brightest upgrade for the Biocube 16 LED on the market today.

Making this Turbo Upgrade System took over 3 months and 23 revisions engineer the best way to pack as much light as possible into the stock hood, with as little modification on your part as possible!

This comes with our premium 14,000K Super Full Spectrum combination, which has proven itself in over 6,000 aquariums around the world! This is fully adjustable using the included digital controller from 4,000K (yellow/white) to 24,000K (purple/blue) and infinitely everywhere in between. With all channels on 100% power, it yields a 14,000K blue, simulating an ocean depth of about 15 feet -20 feet : where most aquarium corals naturally grow. If you want a custom combination for your own choosing, we can make it for you (we just cant guarantee that it will grow corals 4X faster than the natural ocean like our 14,000K Super Full Spectrum does!).

The problem with the factory Biocube 16 LED is that the hood is so incredibly thin, and Steve's LEDs likes to pack an absurdly high amount of high powered LED into all of our fixtures which requires quite a bit of space! We came up with an excellent solution that includes a means to install 3X ultra high quality, name brand, ball bearing, long life cooling fans (all under 30db) and moves over 24CFM (cubic feet per minute) of air through the hood - far more than the stock fan (27db) which only effectively moved about 3 CFM. That said, this upgrade system will be a little bit more audible than the stock lights, but this is the ONLY way to keep LEDs that are substantially brighter running cooler without making huge gaping holes in the hood.

For a premium upgrade at minimal expense, choose the Iridescence Booster upgrade! This upgrade swaps out 4 of the Royal Blue LEDs with 4 Hyper Violet LEDs. It doesn't change the brightness, it only improves the color and makes iridescence explode out of corals. This may increase the amount of purple in the light as well.
